ICYMI, Star Wars-themed areas are coming to both Disneyland and Disney World, as was announced last year. And although no exact dates for the areas’ openings have been set, we now know, at least, that the ground has been officially broken on both sites as of yesterday.
Thanks to a bit of fun digital trickery, Disney celebrated the groundbreaking by unveiling a 360-degree photo of the 14-acre Disneyland construction site, complete with Stormtroopers, X-Wing fighters, AT-AT’s, and more — all digitally added in, of course, but exciting nonetheless.
“In these all-new lands, guests will be transported to a never-before-seen planet inhabited by humanoids, droids and many others,” Disney wrote on their blog. “Star Wars-themed lands will be the largest-ever single-themed land expansions at Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort.”
We can’t wait to get in line for the new attractions (because who doesn’t want to try their hand at flying the Millenium Falcon?), and the groundbreaking is definitely progress. In the meantime, it looks like we’ll have to keep satisfying our Disney thirst with multiple re-watches of The Force Awakens and the new Rogue One trailer, and dreaming of the day when we can actually set foot inside the cantina.
