People like to say, ‘the bigger the better,” which is true when it comes to tax returns, smiles, rollercoasters, and amounts of cheese. But bigger is not always better. (The obvious discussion is just too subjective to address here.) There are times when small stuff is good too, like when you get kidney stones! Smaller commutes, smaller student loans, and small businesses are also undeniably preferred. Add tiny Starbucks Frappuccinos to the list and the smalls might just have it!
Back in 2014, Starbucks tested their Frappuccino Mini. It’s 10 ounces of sugary splendor that’s slightly less expensive than the 12-ounce version and features a smaller amount of sugar. Original testing took place at several Denver and Houston locations in 2014. After success at these locations, Starbucks decided to temporarily add Mini Frapps to the menu for spring 2015 and now they’re back again!
The tiny concoction is customizable and playing with different variations on milk and whipped cream can reduce the drink to as few as 100 calories, albeit 30 grams of sugar. In other words, it’s the perfect trifecta of Starbucks’ addiction: caffeine, novelty and sugar. Did we mention novelty and sugar?
Starbucks’ newest product is either a cute way to satisfy their Instragramming audiences or it’s a clever means of staying afloat. Recently, food manufacturers have realized that failing to accommodate the public’s growing health concerns would be a huge mistake.
