Hip-hop is moving as fast as ever. Luckily, we’re doing the work to compile the best of everything in one place. This week, Ty Dolla $ign and J. Cole released the video for “Purple Emoji,” Skepta released a video for his “Greaze Mode” track, while City Girls and Lil Yachty dropped a video for “Act Up.” Lil Uzi Vert also stole the show with his appearance on Keed’s “Pull Up,” which also features YMW Melly. Here’s the best of the rest:
Jamz Feat. Lil Baby & DaBaby, “Baby Shower”
Yes, someone took it there. Before a satirist got to the concept, Jamz got two of the rap game’s biggest “babies” together on a menacing track named “Baby Shower.”
Freddie Gibbs & Madlib, “Crime Pays”
Freddie Gibbs and Madlib’s Bandana is almost here. This week the duo released the album art for the project, as well as a video for “Crime Pays,” a song where Gibbs’ gritty rhymes are a compelling fit within Madlib’s delightful, jazzy soundscape.
Murs & 9th Wonder, “Ga$ Station Gucci Belt,”, “Night Shift”
Murs and 9th Wonder are set to drop their seventh collab project this July 19th with The Iliad Is Dead And The Odyssey Is Over. This week, Murs delivered two doses of what to expect with his reflective lyrical exercises on the piano-driven “Night Shift” and the thrilling “Ga$ Station Gucci Belt.”
R.A.P. Ferreira, “Respectdue”
The rapper-producer formerly known as Milo is now going by R.A.P. Ferreira, but his freewheeling lyricism is still as potent as ever, as evidenced by “Respectdue,” a track he released today. He paired the funky song with a video that shows him having a good time in the streets of Biddeford, Maine, the home of his Soulfolks Records shop.
Max B & French Montana, “Don’t Push Me”
It looks like Max B’s recent “Don’t Push Me” single wasn’t just a one-off. This week, the currently incarcerated rapper also released “Don’t Push Me,” which displayed his wavy interpretation of Grandmaster Flash And The Furious Five’s classic “Message” synths. French Montana also announced that the latest entry in the duo’s Coke Wave mixtape series would be coming soon.
Asian Da Brat, “Crazy Story (Remix)”
Asian Da Brat decided to lend bars to Chicago rapper King Von’s “Crazy Story,” paying homage to YNW Melly and threatening to “take down” anyone that gets in her way.
Bhad Bhabie Feat. YBN Nahmir, “Spaz”
A pair of young artists unite on “Spaz,” a 3-minute track where the two dish-off unruly lyrics over piano-driven production.
Taylor Bennett Feat. Ty Dolla $ign & Serayah, “In My Head”
Taylor Bennett’s is a smooth ode to romance featuring Ty Dolla Sign and Serayah. The track is from Bennett’s The American Reject project.
Yeek recently released the video for “Fatigued,” a track from his IDK WHERE EP. With more work like the smooth, atmospheric “Fatigued,” There’s little doubt that Yeek’s music career will be trending upward.
