My intrepid assistant editor included this story in Friday's St. Andrew's Net, but now that there's video, I think it's time we revisited it. Canadian pairs skater Jessica Dube took her partner Bryce Davison's skate to the face during the free skate portion of a competition on Thursday night. You can read all about — and see a nice picture with blood on the ice — at this link to the news story. Apparently, she's going to be okay following surgery to put her face back together, but there's no word on whether or not she'll be beautiful again.

The news coverage of the video shown below is kind enough to follow up with great mishaps in ice skating history. It really needs to be set to theme to Chariots of Fire or Top Gun.

It's a good thing ice is so soft, otherwise some of those accidents might have been painful.
