Five Games: ‘Resident Evil: Revelations 2’ And Everything Else You Need To Play This Week

PCs, handhelds, mobile, console, indies, Triple A, free-to-play — the gaming scene gets more diverse and difficult to follow by the day, but thankfully, I’m here every week to guide you through what’s happening with games.

As always, I’ll rattle off five games I think you might want to check out this week. Keep in mind, these articles aren’t meant to be comprehensive lists of everything coming out that week so much as a nice rounded tasting menu. So, let’s get to it…

This Week’s Dragon Ball Game

Dragon Ball XenoVerse (PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3 & PS4, Feb. 24)

Dragon Ball XenoVerse is the first Dragon Ball game for current-gen consoles. It’s also one of the few Dragon Ball games that allows you to create your very own crazy-haired fighter. As your created character, you’re tasked with restoring the Dragon Ball timeline, which has been messed up by a couple time traveling villains. In practice, this means fighting your way through various classic Dragon Ball moments from a slightly different perspective, which Dragon Ball fans should appreciate.

This Week’s Voice Controlled Strategy Game

There Came an Echo (PC, Feb. 24)

There Came an Echo is a new real-time strategy game that you can control entirely with your voice (or mouse and keyboard if you’re not the talkative type). It also features a slick art style and voice work by Wil Wheaton, so it should be worth a spin. Here’s the game’s Steam page.

This Week’s Strategy RPG

Hyperdevotion Noire: Goddess Black Heart (PS Vita, Feb. 24)

Hyperdevotion Noire: Goddess Black Heart is a turn-based strategy RPG based on the Hyperdimension Neptunia universe. If you like strategy RPGS, but always wished they had more cute cyborg girls in them, this just might be the game for you.

This Week’s Remaster

Homeworld Remastered Collection (PC, Feb. 25)

Yup, it’s a strategy-heavy week. The classic space fleet management series, Homeworld returns with a visually enhanced new collection. Homeworld Remastered Collection contains remade versions of Homeworld and Homeworld 2, and as a bonus, you get the original versions of the games as well. Not a bad deal for only $35. Here’s the game’s Steam page.

Pick of the Week

Resident Evil: Revelations 2 – Episode 1 (PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3 & PS4, Feb. 24)

The Resident Evil: Revelations spin-off series returns this week. The original Resident Evil: Revelations mashed up the tone of classic Resident Evil, with the more polished mechanics and controls of more recent, post-Resident Evil 4 titles. The result was the best RE game in years, so hopefully this episodic follow up continues down the same path of quality.

Well, hope you’re into strategy games! Any games you’re itching to get your hands on that I failed to mention? Hit the comments and let the world know.
