Italian Courts Rule That Watching Porn At Work Is A-Okay… As Long As You’re On Lunch

Who doesn’t like to sneak in a little porn here and there at the office, am I right? It’s all fun and sex until your boss catches you. However, an employee at a Fiat factory near Palermo, Sicily, who had learned this lesson the hard way after being fired for watching pornography on the job, just received a victory in a wrongful termination case dating back to 2010.

Although a court had initially found the employee guilty, Palermo’s court of appeal overturned the verdict, which has been in limbo ever since. But just this week, the Court of Cassation — Italy’s highest court — upheld the appeal and thereby ruled that it’s totally okay to watch porn at work. But only if you’re on lunch, of course.

The man had argued that his porn viewing was limited to merely “catching a glimpse” of a film during his lunch break. As there was no evidence of the habit seeping into his normal working hours, the Court of Cassation ruled he had done nothing wrong.

So, you just tell that to your boss when he or she catches you watching porn at work. Hey, as long as it’s not “habit-forming,” no harm no foul, right? I like the cut of your jib, Italy.
