This Woman Went To Christmas Dinner At Hogwarts And We’re All Intensely Jealous

As all people who have read Harry Potter know, receiving a letter from Hogwarts is priceless. Sadly, though, many fans of the series will never get such a letter — one inviting them to join the ranks of Harry and Ron as the school’s newest students — because they (like us) are just muggles with a dream. But even muggles can visit Hogwarts sometimes. And, unlike those letters, that visit does come with a price: $278.00.

Sounds like a steal, right? Well, artist Destiny Blue sure thought so. And she didn’t just keep the experience to herself. Instead, she posted all about her magical evening in The Great Hall (at the Warner Bros. Studio Tour in London) on Imgur, just to let everyone else know that a) this is a thing we could all be doing, and b) that it’s time to seethe with jealousy at all the magic we missed.

Here’s the cerulean-locked artist’s account of the awesome night:

There are a lot of pictures, so we’ll give you the TL; DR (although you should totally read it): The Great Hall was spectacularly decked out for Christmas. All guests got a wand (worth it!), party favors, and a tour of the entire set, including Gryffindor’s common room, The Hogwarts Bridge, and the famed Platform Nine and Three-Quarters (where all the revelers enjoyed dessert). Guests were also treated to a fight with the death eaters (although it’s not clear whether this was planned or just other guests in costume), and left with their own letters inviting them to join Hogwarts for the new term.

Did the fancy dinner live up to all the hype? Well, aside from the food (small portions, not enough vegan options), Destiny Blue thought it was a magical evening: “The word ‘magical’ is often overused – but if I can’t use it about this experience then when can I use it?!” She wrote.

Sounds like it might be time to start saving up for next year?
