Are you sitting down right now? Good. That skill will go a long way if you’re looking to snap up this unique job from Google. No, it’s not wiping every DVD copy of The Internship off of the face of the earth. For $20 an hour, you could be the Crash Test Dummy located inside Google’s self-driving car!

The Arizona Republic reports that Alphabet Inc, the ginormous multinational conglomerate that has Google under its umbrella, is looking for self-driving vehicle operators to work 6-8 hours a day in the company’s automated cars. You can’t be chugging Olde English 800 and playing Game Gear the whole time, mind you. The expectation is that “drivers” will be able to take over the vehicle if danger occurs. (A factor that does come up.)

“Test drivers play an important role in developing our self-driving technology,” said Brian Torcellini, head of operations for Google’s Self-Driving Car testing program. “They give our engineers feedback about how our cars are driving and interacting with others on the road, and can take control of the vehicle if needed.”

What do you need to sign up for this position? A clean driving record, for one. Also “excellent” written/verbal communication skills, a BS/BA degree and the ability to type 40wpm or more. Torcellini says the role of test driver is so new that they haven’t zoned in one specific type of person they’re looking for. Strong drivers that meet the laid out criteria are basically the demo most likely to snag the gig.
