When you think McDonald’s, you think greasy fries and poor life choices, right? You certainly don’t think of salad bars stocked with the freshest ingredients, burgers served on cutting boards, and cutesy latte art, because let’s be honest. That’s not what McDonald’s is.
At least, not here in America. But take a trip over to Hong Kong, and that’s exactly what you’ll find once you step foot in its new McDonald’s Next restaurant.
Billed by Marketwatch as “one for the hipsters,” McDonald’s Next is fast food out of a dream. Not only does it feature the new “Create Your Taste” experience and a salad bar stocked with everything from asparagus to quinoa, it also offers table service and wireless charging stations at every table. Whaaaat?
If you’re not jealous yet, just check out the photos visitors have been posting to Instagram below. The place looks gorgeous. Peanuts-themed latte art, people! And while McDonald’s has been testing the “Create Your Taste” customizable fanciness at select restaurants in San Francisco and New York, we’re not holding our breath for a McDonald’s Next in America anytime soon. Wooden serving platters and wire fry baskets are probably a little too expensive to adapt to the U.S. market. Sigh.
