The Tennessean is reporting the details of former-Titans kicker Rob Bironas’ toxicology report and the numbers are disheartening, a .218 blood alcohol count that put him at twice the legal limit the night of his fatal accident. Traces of Vicodin were also found in his system.

Larry Bironas, Rob’s father, released the following statement:

“We appreciate the hard work of the local authorities to help us begin to answer the many questions we have had surrounding the death of our son. Today we learned that Rob had been drinking, and got behind the wheel. This is something he didn’t do as a rule. We don’t know why he made that choice this time. Rob made a mistake, and he paid the ultimate price. We appreciate the outpouring of support, care and concern showed to us by Rob’s friends, the NFL, and the Nashville community. We appreciate your respect for his mother and me, his siblings, his son, and his wife as we grieve.”

The Titans are honoring Bironas with a moment of silence before the game this Sunday. You know, a stadium full of drunk people reflecting on a man who tried to run several people off the road before losing control of his own SUV while drunk. Perhaps they can hand out airbags and steering wheel breathalyzer locks while their at it too.
