It’s been a banner year for Rihanna so far, as the superstar released her eighth studio album, ANTI, back in January and embarked on a world tour. Adding on to the accolades today, the Grammy winner released a sweeping new single for the epic sci-fi film: Star Trek: Beyond, the third installment in the new series reboot helmed off by J.J. Abrams.
Yesterday, Rih took to social media and posted teasers via Instagram and Twitter; now you can hear the whole tune, which is available via Tidal, Spotify, or Apple Music. It’s not the first time the mega-star has scored a song for a movie set in outer space; in 2014 she voiced the character Tip and sang on the soundtrack to DreamWorks Animation fantasy/sci-fi flick Home.
The ballad also finds a familiar partner in Sia, who Rihanna teamed with on her 2012 hit “Diamonds” from her seventh studio album, Unapologetic.
The new Star Trek movie stars Chris Pine, Idris Elba, Zoe Saldana and the late Anton Yelchin, who tragically passed away in an accident earlier this month. It hits theaters on July 22 and is directed by Justin Lin, who is also known for his work in the Fast and the Furious series.
