On Monday afternoon, the Milwaukee Bucks and point guard Giannis Antetokounmpo agreed on a four-year contract extension worth $100 million, per The Vertical’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

The Bucks confirmed the report shortly after the news broke, saying that the extension will be finalized on Tuesday afternoon during a press conference.
Antetokounmpo became the Bucks’ full-time starting point guard after the All-Star break and saw improvements in usage, points, rebounds, assists and shooting efficiency.
The $100 million deal isn’t a max extension and, according to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, contains no options after any of the four seasons it entails. The Greek Freak will be wreaking havoc in Milwaukee through 2020-21 at the very least. Antetokounmpo reportedly took about $6 million less than the maximum to help his young team retain talent, too. Despite not hitting the max, it’s still a lot of money that should keep both parties extremely happy.

Last year, the Bucks re-signed big man John Henson right before training camp, so this development falls in line with Milwaukee’s recent strategy to extend eligible rookies.
Going into the new season, Milwaukee is going to be one of the most interesting teams to follow with all of their youth. The team will tout out a roster including Jabari Parker, Greg Monroe, Henson and rookie Thon Maker — who won’t see much playing time, but will be a fascinating developmental project for the Bucks.
After the news broke, Henson and ex-Buck Brandon Jennings expressed their excitement about the news on Twitter.

Antetokounmpo is 21 and still coming into his own as a player. After making a huge jump in production that coincided with taking the reins of Jason Kidd’s offense, we should expect an excellent season from the supremely versatile 6-foot-11 ball player.
