The Undertaker Will Have An Unexpected Dream Match At WWE’s Greatest Royal Rumble

The biggest mystery heading into WrestleMania 34 — bigger even than Braun Strowman’s partner — was whether the Undertaker would show up and have a match against John Cena. He did, and it ruled, and kinda-sorta proved the Undertaker wasn’t actually retired, in the sense that he wrestled a wrestling match.

But we definitely, for sure, probably didn’t expect another Undertaker singles match just a couple of weeks after WrestleMania. And apparently that’s exactly what we’re getting. And it might not be a dream match for a lot of people, but it’s 100 percent a dream match for everyone here at With Spandex, I can promise you that.

Yes, as elaborated upon at WWE.com, Undertaker will face Rusev. In a casket match. At the Greatest Royal Rumble. The GRR (which is the best possible acronym for a pro wrestling thing) is absolutely shaping up to be a fully radical event that you’re going to want to stay up for.

There will be a 50-person Royal Rumble, John Cena vs. Triple H, seven title matches including Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns in a steel cage … and now this.

Following his triumphant return at WrestleMania, The Undertaker will take on Rusev in a Casket Match at the Greatest Royal Rumble event, which takes place at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Friday, April 27, at 7 p.m. AST. The object of a Casket Match is for a WWE Superstar to trap their opponent inside the casket and close the lid.

The Greatest Royal Rumble will stream live on WWE Network on Friday, April 27, at 12 p.m. ET/9 a.m. PT, with a special, one-hour Greatest Royal Rumble Kickoff starting at 11 a.m. ET/8 a.m. PT. It will also be available on pay-per-view outside of the Middle East with regional broadcast information forthcoming.

Rusev seems pretty excited about the news, as well.

Our deepest congratulations and sympathies to Rusev, who will get to face the Undertaker on Rusev Day, and also will have to be buried alive on Rusev Day. A real mixed bag, honestly.
