Netflix might be receiving all the credit for reviving the rom-com, but that doesn’t mean Hulu isn’t also hosting some lovably funny films on its own platform.
These movies run the gamut, from cult classics starring American sweethearts to British satires about life, love, and death. The thing they all have in common is a good love story with a lot of laughs. Here are our picks for the best rom-coms on Hulu right now.

Plus One (2019)

Pen15’s Maya Erskine and The Boys‘ Jack Quaid star in this modern rom-com about a pair of friends who agree to suffer a summer of wedding invites together. Alice and Ben have been pals since college, but when their mutuals start getting hitched and they’re left without dates to the happy nuptials, they make a pact to be each others’ “plus one.” What begins as a chance to score free booze and food quickly spirals into a neverending series of interactions that remind them how lonely they both are and force them to confront their hidden attraction.
My Best Friend’s Wedding (1997)

Julia Roberts, Dermot Mulroney, and Cameron Diaz star in this classic rom-com about a woman set upon preventing her best friend’s marriage. Roberts plays Julianne, a woman who realizes she’s in love with her best friend, Michael (Mulroney), just days before he’s supposed to wed his rich fiance, Kim (Diaz). Roberts attends the festivities, befriending Kim while also trying to split the pair up, using wedding planning mishaps and bar karaoke to prove how wrong they are for one another. It’d be cringeworthy if Roberts wasn’t so damn lovable, and Diaz wasn’t hilariously naive.
Drinking Buddies (2013)

Olivia Wilde and Jake Johnson star in this mumblecore entry from Joe Swanberg about a couple of beer-loving co-workers with a complicated relationship. Kate (Wilde) and Luke (Johnson) work at a brewery together where they spend their days flirting and getting smashed. A weekend away with their significant others unearths some harsh truths about their friendship. It’s a meandering tale of friend-zones gone wrong made all the worse by bad decisions and plenty of booze, but Wilde and Johnson share some great chemistry on screen and add just enough humor to keep things interesting.
Bridget Jones’s Diary (2001)

Renee Zellweger, Colin Firth, and Hugh Grant star in this quintessential British rom-com that still feels fresh and inventive nearly 20 years after it first dropped. Zellweger plays the titular heroine, a on-air reporter unlucky in love who wades through bad dates and even worse relationships with trademark British humor. She hooks up with her hot boss David Cleaver (Grant) before striking up a tense romance with Mark Darcy (Firth) and most of the film follows Bridget as she must choose between the two men and the version of herself she wants to be.
The Spy Who Dumped Me (2017)

SNL’s Kate McKinnon and Mila Kunis star in this rom-com that’s heavy on the action. Kunis plays a woman named Audrey, who hooks up with a charismatic man of mystery played by Justin Theroux. Turns out, the guy is a spy, who’s in some hot water, and Audrey, along with her loud-mouthed best friend, Morgan (McKinnon), are pulled into an international conspiracy where they’re forced to dodge bullets, gain intel, and figure out why the dude dumped her.
When Harry Met Sally (1989)

You can’t talk about rom-coms without praising the O.G. friends-to-lovers romp that is this ’80s classic. Billy Crystal and America’s then-sweetheart, Meg Ryan, star as two New York City besties (going to batting cages and eating at delis) who worry that adding sex to the mix will ruin their friendship. The film poses the age-old question: Can men and women really be just friends, but it does it in a way that still feels fresh, decades later.
Just Married (2003)

Ashton Kutcher and the late Brittany Murphy star in this hilarious honeymoon romp about a newly-married couple who struggle to work together when their planned European vacation goes off the rails. Kutcher plays Tom, a working-class guy, while Murphy plays Sarah, a woman from a wealthy family whose whirlwind romance doesn’t sit well with her parents. The two travel overseas together, encountering increasingly ridiculous roadblocks that force them to come clean about secrets they’ve been keeping from each other. Kutcher is his dependable self, but it’s Murphy who really carries this one.
Life Partners (2014)

This rom-com starring Gillian Jacobs, Leighton Meester, and Adam Brody puts a different spin on the traditional boy-meets-girl format by taking a look at that romance from a third wheel’s perspective. Meester is the extra in this love story, playing Sasha, a young woman struggling to adapt to a new normal when her best friend Paige (Jacobs) gets serious with a guy for the first time. It’s brutally honest and laughably relatable for anyone who’s been forced to “make nice” with their buddy’s significant other.
The Cutting Edge (1992) (requires Starz)

Moira Kelly and D.B. Sweeney star in this icy rom-com about a figure skater and a hockey player, who are forced to work together to realize their Olympic dreams. Sweeney plays a cocky former hockey player named Doug, who reluctantly pairs up with a temperamental pairs skater in need of a partner named Kate (Kelly). The two bicker and feud as they cover the ice and climb their way to the podium, but we know the fighting is just a consequence of their red-hot sexual tension.
Under The Tuscan Sun (2003)

Diane Lane stars in the OG Eat Pray Love while playing Frances, a recently-divorced writer who impulsively buys a Tuscan villa, hoping it will change her life. It does, in increasingly funny ways, as the house is falling apart, and Frances has no idea what it takes to renovate a dilapidated country home. She builds friendships with the Polish immigrants who she hires to work on the estate and an eccentric British neighbor while finding romance with an Italian heartthrob and a renewed sense of self.
