Lee Corso’s weekly headgear pick went to another level on Saturday. With this week’s College GameDay taking place at James Madison for the Dukes’ game against Richmond, Corso decided to go in a different direction than he usually does – Corso paid homage to the school’s namesake and dressed up like the fourth president of the United States. Corso walked out of a campus building as “Hail to the Chief” blasted over the loudspeakers, then addressed the crowd. He picked James Madison, gave a speech that ended with “God bless the Dukes, and God bless the United States of America,” and had someone throw a Duke Dog head on him.
The crowd in Harrisonburg, which had been electric all morning, went completely insane for Corso. This – along with the entire James Madison team getting surprised by its head coach when he unveiled the team’s helmets for the game – showed why GameDay going to smaller schools is always fun.
James Madison and Richmond will square off at 3:30 p.m. EST on Comcast SportsNet.
