Are you trying your best to avoid Star Wars: The Force Awakens spoilers? Did you live in fear of being blindsided by a careless “R2-D2 REVEALED TO BE BB-8’S FATHER!!” headline (to be clear, that’s not a real spoiler, don’t yell at me)? Well, there’s a new Chrome extension for you.
The Star Wars Spoiler Blocker will scan every web page you visit, and if it detects any mention of Star Wars, or Star Wars-specific terms, it will cover the page with the Star Wars logo. If you want to give into the Dark Side and check the page anyways, it’s on you.
Of course there are limitations to the program, as it basically blocks anything Star Wars-related, whether it’s a spoiler or not. Most of the time GammaSquad would probably be blocked, so I suppose it’s in my best interests to advise against installing it. That said, I could see it being useful if you can’t make a midnight showing of The Force Awakens and need to go into total Star Wars blackout mode until you can buy, cheat or sneak your way into a theater to see the movie. Drastic times call for drastic measures.
If you don’t trust The Force to be strong enough to protect you from spoilers, you can download the Star Wars Spoiler Blocker right here.
