Lots of things can go wrong when attempting an armed robbery. You can forget your loot bag, mask, and/or gun in the car. You can drop your wallet on the way out. Or, you can run into a small hamburger joint filled with special forces members who are armed to the teeth.

The latter scenario just happened to occur in a French McDonald’s, when two armed robbers attempted to get away with all the french fry money. What the dynamic duo didn’t suspect was that some of the paying patrons in the establishment were members of the Groupe d’intervention de la Gendarmerie national, which is basically France’s version of the NAVY SEALs. Also known as the GIGN, the group is highly skilled in counter-terrorism, surveillance, and hostage rescue. In other words, they’re a band of trained, covert killers. So, yeah, these guys picked the wrong Mickey D’s.

What you expect to happen happened. The GIGN waiting for the men to exit the building before confronting them and asking them to surrender. These geniuses decided against waving the white flag, and one ended up falling down a flight of stairs — he’s seriously injured — while the other received a bullet to his abdomen.

They’re facing charges of armed robbery and commission of violence.
