The Internet Is Having A Collective Meltdown Over Andre 3000’s Verse On ‘Blonde’

Now that Frank Ocean has finally dropped his new album Blonde after years of waiting, the time has come to analyze it to the fullest extent. That means lots of great, in-depth think pieces about what each song means and how it makes you feel and all of those great things. It also means that the entire internet gets to freak out about the best parts of the album, like Andre 3000’s verse.

He appears as the sole voice on the track “Solo (Reprise)” that clocks in at just over a minute. A key line that definitely reads as a subliminal to Drake addresses ghostwriting: “After 20 years in / I’m so naive I was under the impression that everyone wrote they own verses /It’s comin’ back different and yea that shit hurts me.”

Since the rapper doesn’t offer up his guest verse services to just anyone, and in fact is pretty reclusive as far as his music output goes, this is a rap holiday of sorts and people are enjoying it.

It should come as no surprise that everyone is relishing the fact that Andre threw that shade at Drake during the verse.

A verse is a lovely present, Andre, but would it be possible to maybe get a full album from you in the near future? Now that Frank has finally ushered his latest effort into the world, it’s time for some other artists that reluctantly release material to also step up to the plate. It’s what the world needs right now, so we will be waiting for Andre 3000’s own full-length masterpiece with baited breath.
