Devin Booker etched his name into the history books on Friday night when he exploded for 70 points in a 130-120 loss to the Boston Celtics. It was a game that meant a lot more to the C’s, who are vying for the No. 1 seed in the East standings, but Booker’s scoring extravaganza is all anyone will be talking about.
And talk they did, especially Booker’s colleagues around the NBA, who took to Twitter to express their shock and awe at the Suns guard’s scoring feat, which is the most points in a single game since Kobe Bryant’s immortal 81-point outing against the Raptors in 2006.

Everybody go to my snap to see @DevinBook on my snap now!!!!!! 70pts!!!! pic.twitter.com/HEMm9zeNre

Even more impressive was Booker’s overall efficiency, especially against a very good defensive team like Boston. He shot 21-of-40 from the field (52.4 percent) and 4-of-11 from downtown (36 percent) and added eight rebounds, six assists, three steals, and a block. Needless to say, Booker joined elite company.

The Suns suited up just eight players on Friday night, and only two of those β Alex Len and Leandro Barbosa β scored in double figures with 11 points apiece. Meanwhile, Isaiah Thomas led the way for the Celtics with 34 points, which, for those of you doing the math, is less than half of what Booker scored.
The Celtics, apparently, didn’t take it too well.
Celtics locker room basically silent. Like they lost.

Stevens is pissed. The Suns are thrilled. The world is weird. https://t.co/fYqOS7LPid
