EARLIER: Trade rumors have picked up in a big way in recent days with Houston Texans defensive lineman/outside linebacker Jadeveon Clowney. The No. 1 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, Clowney and the Texans have looked to be heading toward a breakup before the start of the season due to the player’s dismay regarding his contract situation.
Now, Clowney will get the fresh start he covets. According to reports that began circulating on Saturday morning, Clowney is headed to the Seattle Seahawks.

The makeup of the trade is still unclear, but the Texans are slated to receive a package of one third-round pick and a pair of players for Clowney.

Clowney has been openly dismayed with his contract situation with the team. Houston put the franchise tag on him this offseason, which Clowney has not signed, and the two sides were unable to come to terms on a long-term deal to keep him around and satiate his desire to receive a big payday. In recent days, reports indicated that Clowney fired his longtime agent.
The former University of South Carolina standout has appeared in 62 games during his five year NFL career, registering 205 tackles, 64 of which were for loss, and 29 sacks. He should fit right in on the Seahawks’ defensive line, as the team lost its leader in sacks from last season, Frank Clark, in free agency.
