Santa Barbara Shooter Elliot Rodger Wrote A ‘Twisted’ 141-Page Manifesto

Last night, at a press conference in response to the shootings that left seven dead, Santa Barbara county sheriff Bill Brown detailed Elliot Rodger’s timeline. His spree began at his apartment in Isla Vista, where he stabbed his three roommates to death, leaving behind a “pretty horrific crime scene.”

From there, Rodger went to the Alpha Phi sorority, but when no one responded to his knocks, he open-fired on three female bystanders, killing two of them. The horror continued to a deli, where he shot and murdered a University of California, Santa Barbara student. That’s when “foot-patrol deputies responded and witnessed Rodger fleeing in his BMW,” and as he drove around town, fleeing the cops, he fired “multiple rounds” at pedestrians and struck two bicyclists.

Rodger collided with another vehicle and stopped his rampage. By the time deputies removed him from his car and placed handcuffs on his wrists, Rodger was dead. He had a gunshot wound to his head, which authorities believe was self-inflicted. (Via)

Before all the bloodshed, Rodger wrote a 141-page, or 107,927 words, manifesto entitled “My Twisted World” that’s as literally insane as it is hard to read. A sample:

I began to have fantasies of becoming very powerful and stopping everyone from having sex. I wanted to take their sex away from them, just like they took it away from me. I saw sex as an evil and barbaric act, all because I was unable to have it. This was the major turning point. My anger made me stronger inside. This was when I formed my ideas that sex should be outlawed. It is the only way to make the world a fair and just place. If I can’t have it, I will destroy it. That’s the conclusion I came to, right then and there.

You can read the whole thing here, once you’re FINALLY finished with The Very Hungry Caterpillar.
