Michael Eisner believes it’s pretty hard to find a woman who is both beautiful and funny. At least, this was the sentiment the former Disney CEO expressed to the audience at Thursday’s Aspen Ideas Festival. THR reports that during his onstage conversation with Goldie Hawn, Eisner said the actress was so successful because, basically, she’s funny AND hot:
“From my position, the hardest artist to find is a beautiful, funny woman. By far. They usually—boy am I going to get in trouble, I know this goes online—but usually, unbelievably beautiful women, you being an exception, are not funny.”
Hawn chimed in on his remark by stating she grew up viewing herself as an “ugly duckling” which helped her hone her comedic talents.
This comment helped Eisner elaborate more on his somewhat sexist comment by saying, “I know women who have been told they’re beautiful, they win Miss Arkansas, they don’t ever have to get attention other than with their looks. So they don’t tell a joke. In the history of the motion-picture business, the number of beautiful, really beautiful women – a Lucille Ball – that are funny, is impossible to find.”
No offense Mr. Eisner, but you need to get out more.
