It wasn’t that long ago that we touched a little on the history of Bill Nye the Science Guy. Now, it appears, we’re about to get an even more in-depth look at the man. According to Variety, a Kickstarter campaign has begun to raise funds for a documentary about the famous science educator. It’s also a campaign that’s got some big names behind it.
Among the team of producers is Seth Gordon, who also produced the high school football doc Undefeated, which won the Academy Award for Best Documentary in 2012. On board to direct are David Alvarado and Jason Sussberg, who directed The Immortalists, another science-based documentary.
The film intends to explore Nye, currently the CEO of the Planetary Society, and his quest to “battle the naysayers to create a more scientifically literate and engaged universe.” Contributions to the effort can gain such gifts as mentions in the film’s credits, handwritten notes written by Nye himself, and a bow tie for your dog. No, really.
