Chris Jericho blends the worlds of rock n’ roll and pro wrestling with his podcast significantly better than he ever does with Fozzy. He best proved this point when metal legend Glenn Danzig guested on a recent episode of Talk Is Jericho. Danzig proved he’s got more than enough cred behind him, admitting that when he first met Jericho, he recognized him from old Smoky Mountain Wrestling tapes. During their chat, the former Misfits lead singer also revealed his favorite wrestlers, including a predilection for a certain self-proclaimed god:
My favorite all-time wrestler is Freddie Blassie. And then I liked Superstar Billy Graham. I used to love Macho Man when he first broke in, and was the anti-hero. He was a bad guy but people rooted for him. There’s so many great characters in wrestling. One of my new favorites is the Wyatt Family. It’s this Cape Fear meets Charles Manson thing, it’s pretty cool.
Danzig’s fandom runs so deep that he even wanted to become a wrestler himself, but decided against it because of his smaller stature:
I wanted to be a wrestler. Yeah! But I didn’t think I was big enough. Then I met some wrestlers and I’m like ‘I could’ve been a wrestler.’ But it all worked out pretty good in the end *laughs*
Too short to be a pro wrestler? Damn. Poor guy must have sh*t himself when he saw Johnny Gargano.
