SAN DIEGO – From the sound of it, Captain America will be getting a bit more scuzzed-up for his next movie.
“The action’s gonna be much more hand-to-hand combat,” “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” star Chris Evans told us at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday. “[Directors Joe and Anthony Russo] kind of adopted a more hand-held approach…so I think it’s gonna look more gritty.”
But don’t just take his word for it. Here’s Evans’ co-star Scarlett Johansson, reprising the role of Black Widow:
“The fighting styles are a little down and dirty,” she told us. “It’s some hard truths you learn in this movie.”
As to the characters’ mismatched dynamic – there’s a bit more “moral hedging” involved in Black Widow’s approach to fighting baddies – how will that play out when they’re forced to work together?
“I think that the characters have sort of unexpected similarities, you know?” said Johansson. “And I think this unexpected friendship that they end up forming…really allows them to open up to each other, and to the audience as well.”
