Carla Gugino has had a pretty good year thus far with her appearances in San Andreas, Fox’s Wayward Pines and HBO’s The Brink. Now, according to Deadline, it looks like the actress will play the role of Shelli — originally meant for Christina Hendricks — in Cameron Crowe’s hourlong comedy pilot Roadies for Showtime:

It was a result of a major recasting on the project, which follows the day-to-day life of a successful rock tour as seen through the eyes of music’s unsung heroes – the crew members who get the show on the road. Gugino will play the band’s production manager Shelli – a world-class multi-tasker, passionate music fan, and tireless work partner to the band’s tour manager (Luke Wilson). Their unique personal and professional relationship is forever crashing and colliding as they guide the daily events of the band and crew of roadies.

Since the original pilot was shot, the recasting of the character followed rewrites Crowe did on the script. Showtime’s Roadies will now move forward with a bunch of reshoots with Gugino in the starring role. With J.J. Abrams and Bryan Burk also on as executive producers, this Bad Robot Production is fully expected to be ordered to series by the network.
