Support For Brock Turner And His Family Continues To Grow As His Father Builds A Defense Fund

The saga of Brock Turner — the convicted Stanford rapist who has become a media focus following his sentencing that one congressman referred to as “pathetic” –is now entering the stage where battle lines are being drawn between supporters and defenders. The public statements by Turner’s father and mother, while awkward, should be expected when talking about a parent and their child. But it hasn’t stopped many from rallying around Turner, especially when it comes to his legal defense.

As CBS News reports, Turner’s father has opened a legal defense fund for his son at the Wright-Patt Credit Union:

In early May, a woman who described herself as “a lifelong friend, mother and person who has watched this family grow” started a Facebook page titled “Turner Family Support Fund” on behalf of Brock Turner’s parents, Dan and Carleen, according to WHIO.

The page has been taken down. While it was live, it gave the 40 or so members who liked the page directions on how to donate to a Wright-Patt Credit Union account to “help ease the financial burden that this situation has caused.”

“(Turner’s parents) are dealing with a monumental life-changing and tragic situation with Brock, and their expenses continue to mount. As a mother and friend, I would do anything to help my child and save him,” the supporter wrote on the page. “I know that while we are not experiencing what they are feeling, my heart and faith continue to want to help and be supportive.”

Now the page mentioned above has been taken down, but others have sprouted in its absence:

The Brock Turner Family Support page would almost seem to be a parody account if we didn’t know that others have existed in the past. It has not been created by the family, but it does seem to be from a supporter that claims to want to help the family:

They are dealing with a monumental life-changing and tragic situation and their expenses continue to mount!

There are no links to the defense fund, but it’s not out of the realm that this is a real thing.
