Since its release late last year, EA has been keeping Star Wars Battlefront players on a content drip-feed, which isn’t great considering the game was pretty shallow to begin with. So far Battlefront‘s only major addition has been the Outer Rim expansion, which just reused already-existing planets Tatooine and Sullust. Sure, it added Greedo as a playable character, but for the most part, it was fairly uninspired DLC. A stopgap until DICE could whip up something better.
Well, more than seven months after Star Wars Battlefront‘s initial release, the game is finally getting some truly worthwhile DLC. The upcoming Bespin expansion adds weapons, vehicles, characters, a new game mode and, of course, the titular planet of Bespin. The new characters are good ones, too, as you can now play as everybody’s favorite rogue Lando Calrissian or crusty bounty hunter, Dengar. It’s not entirely clear what Lando and Dengar’s powers are yet — I imagine Lando might get a bonus while attacking from the back.
What do you think? Any lapsed Star Wars Battlefront players that might pick the game up again when Bespin arrives? It’s new urban-based maps definitely seem to shake things up a bit.
Star Wars Battlefront season pass holders will be able to play the Bespin expansion on June 21. Everybody else will have to wait two more weeks until July 5.
