Daniel Radcliffe has had an interesting acting career since the decade he spent playing Harry Potter. He seems to enjoy picking out odd roles, recently playing an FBI agent going undercover in a white supremacist group in Imperium and a farting corpse in Swiss Army Man. He was previously Igor in Victor Frankenstein, and the Devil in Horns.
None of these have been remarkably successful, but when you were Harry Potter for eight movies, it’s not like you need them to be. What Radcliffe seems to value these days is the ability to do whatever strange project that comes up and tickles his fancy. That’s why he’s been hesitant to agree to any TV roles.
“I’ve recently read a couple of really good TV pilot scripts,” he told Digital Spy. “But then it’s signing on for seven years. Right now, I have a little bit of freedom. So if I read a script for something that’s filming next year, I don’t have to turn it down because I’m not available — which I did, for a long time.”
But there’s one television show Daniel would drop everything to be in: Game of Thrones.
“I would love to,” he said excitedly. “If they want to just bring me in and f*cking kill me, I would be so happy to do that.”
Unfortunately for him, the producers of Game of Thrones are pretty tight fisted with their cameos, and most of them seem to go to musicians. There might be a chance, though. One Canadian fan known for his Game of Thrones impressions not only got a part on the show, he got to be decapitated by the Hound Sandor Clegane … exactly the kind of gig Radcliffe is looking for.
If Daniel does happen to snag himself a role being murdered on Game of Thrones, he’ll be far from the first Harry Potter castmate to appear on the show. Both shows are largely filmed in the United Kingdom and share a decent amount of actors. Michelle Fairley was Hermione’s mum and Catelyn Stark, Natalia Tena was both Tonks and the wildling Osha, and David Bradley was caretaker Argus Filch and Walder Frey.
Overall, we’ve seen 13 actors so far sharing the Harry Potter and Game of Thrones universe. Maybe one of those actors can put in a good word with producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss? If any of them are still alive themselves, that is.
