Tiger Woods won’t just be battling other golfers at The Players Championship this weekend, but also his own emotions. Just two days after ending his relationship with longtime girlfriend Lindsey Vonn, Woods told the media at TPC Sawgrass on Tuesday that he hasn’t slept in three days.
Woods announced on his website on Sunday that him and Vonn decided to “mutually stop dating,” citing difficulties finding time to spend together as a reason. During his presser on Tuesday, he delved into a little bit about how hard the recent days have been on him.
“It obviously does affect me, it is tough. There’s no doubt, I’m not going to lie about that, it is tough. And on top of that, this time of year is really really hard on me. This three day window is really hard. I haven’t slept. These three days — May 3rd through the fifth today — it’s brutal on me. And obviously what happened on Sunday it just adds to it.”
Woods’ father, Earl, passed away on May 3, 2006.
Woods will tee off Thursday at 1:49 p.m. EST alongside Adam Scott and Martin Kaymer.
