You may have heard that Slash and Axl Rose, the guitarist and lead singer, respectively, of Guns ‘N Roses have finally buried the hatchet after years of feuding. Who can we thank for this wonderful reconciliation? Who is the kind soul, the modern saint, who was able to bring these two back together? Well, according to Fred Durst, it was him.

Yes, Durst, the erstwhile frontman of nu metal band Limp Bizkit, a band name that still yields eye rolls to this day, has laid claim to being the one who got Slash and Rose talking again. At their recent show at the Reading Festival, Durst and the band broke into a little bit of “Sweet Child O’ Mine” before dropping his big news. “I’d like you to know that we’re responsible for Axl and Slash being back together. We had a meeting and it went really well.” How nice of Durst to share the glory with all of Limp Bizkit.

The band also covered Rage Against the Machine’s “Killing in the Name Of” during the show and ended the set with their song “Take a Look Around” from the Mission: Impossible 2 soundtrack.

Whether or not Durst’s claim is true, we cannot be sure. Maybe he really is partially responsible for getting Rose and Slash talking again. It’d be pretty lousy if he was lying, although it wouldn’t be enough to take him to the top of the “Worst Durst” rankings.
