File this under news you’ve probably already penciled in: Bill Murray’s a go for Wes Anderson’s next big screen offering.

America’s most trusted holiday host received a Lifetime Achievement Award at this weekend’s Marrakech International Film Festival (congrats!) and at a press conference he revealed that he’ll be appearing in Anderson’s new film. Er, his voice will be anyway. The new Wes Anderson joint is a stop motion animated feature about dogs.

Here are the relevant details provided by Murray about the movie as shook out by The Playlist:

“….I’m playing a dog. He’s doing another, like a stop motion animated kind of comedy sort of like ‘Fantastic Mr. Fox,’ ” Murray said, and though he didn’t spill any plot details, he added, “And it’s a Japanese story and I’m playing a dog. I’m very excited.”

We share your excitement, Bill.

The Rushmore star will be joining a voice cast that’s a mix of Anderson film alums (Jeff Goldblum, Edward Norton, Bob Balaban) and a new guy that seems like he could fit in with that world (Bryan Cranston). It’s still murky what stage of production the film is at, so just pretend it’s at whatever stage you like and try not to get disappointed if it doesn’t sync up.

Speaking of Wes Anderson, did you know he’s thought about dipping into horror? Get caught up here.
