This makes me as happy as “Escape (The Piña Colada Song)” makes Crow T. Robot and Tom Servo furious.
Shout! Factory, who have been doing a stellar job putting out [Mystery Science Theater 3000] on DVD, is helping to celebrate the show’s 25th anniversary with a Turkey Day Marathon, curated and hosted by [creator Joel] Hodgson. Beginning at Noon Eastern on Thanksgiving Day, fans will be able to log on to MST3KTurkeyDay.com for six glorious, classic, Sampo-filled episodes of Mystery Science Theater 3000.
But which classic turkeys will get basted by Joel, Mike, Crow, and Tom Servo on Thanksgiving Day? That’s up to the fans. Hodgson is going to be taking fan suggestions via his Twitter. (Via)
This is fantastic news. I’ve so missed MST3K marathons airing on Comedy Central and Sci-Fi Channel, but this is the next best thing (outside of watching whatever’s available on Netflix…and all the episodes you recorded to VHS when you were a lonely teenager with nothing else to do). Anyway, there are very few bad MST3K episodes, so choosing ONLY six is tough, but with all due respect to Hobgoblins, here are the ones I’d vote for.
1. Santa Claus Conquers the Martians (season 3, episode 21)
What to be thankful for: “A Patrick Swayze Christmas.”
2. Manos: The Hands of Fate (season 4, episode 24)
What to be thankful for: “I am Torgo.”
3. Mitchell (season 5, episode 12)
What to be thankful for: Tom Servo going insane.
4. Prince of Space (season 8, episode 16)
What to be thankful for: “Crank-whore?”
5. Space Mutiny (season 8, episode 20)
What to be thankful for: “We put our faith in Blast Hardcheese.”
6. The Final Sacrifice (season 9, episode 10)
What to be thankful for: ROWSDOWER. Also, MIKE PIPPER PARTY.
