To say that Bill Goldberg is having a career resurgence is both way too on-the-nose and also underselling things a bit. The former WCW and WWE World Heavyweight Champion returned from a 12-year retirement on Sunday to defeat his old nemesis Brock Lesnar at the Survivor Series pay-per-view. Now it looks like he’ll be staying around for at least one more appearance, which will only possibly be longer than 90 seconds next time around.
As first reported by Pro Wrestling Sheet and confirmed by the Wrestling Observer and our own With Spandex sources, Goldberg signed a deal prior to Sunday’s Survivor Series match that will have him appear in the upcoming Royal Rumble match in January.
This will only be Goldberg’s second-ever appearance in the Rumble match. At this time, it is unclear whether Goldberg will stick around longer than the Royal Rumble, but it’s hard to imagine the people pulling the strings at WWE aren’t at least thinking about a potential WrestleMania match for Goldberg, who clearly still moves the needle, even after all this time.
