Rush Limbaugh Believes That James Bond Should Be ‘White And Scottish, Period’

When it comes to casting fictional characters that were created decades ago, Rush Limbaugh believes that we should stick to the same old, same old. One of the more harmless pieces of information that was “leaked” in the hack of Sony Pictures involved Amy Pascal, Chairman of the Motion Pictures Group of Sony Pictures Entertainment, admitting that she’d like to see Idris Elba play James Bond after Daniel Craig. This isn’t necessarily a new idea, as people have been campaigning for the Luther star for several years now. Even before Elba’s name came up, fans of the 007 franchise wanted Colin Salmon to take the role, and I have always held out hope for Tracy Morgan’s LaMont Bond. Basically, a lot of people are interested in seeing a black Bond.

Limbaugh isn’t, though. With that Pascal news still fresh in the Google search results, the talk radio host explained that Ian Fleming wrote his beloved character a specific way, and that’s the way it should be.

“James Bond is a total concept put together by Ian Fleming,” Limbaugh said. “He was white and Scottish, period. That is who James Bond is.”

“We’ve had 50 years of white Bonds because Bond is white,” Limbaugh argued. “Bond was never Black. Ian Fleming never created a Black Brit to play James Bond.” (Via Raw Story)

Limbaugh concedes, however, that he’d be fine with a black actor playing a fictional character, so long as white actors are able to take on the roles of real black people, including the President of the United States. “George Clooney and Kate Hudson as Barack and Michelle Obama, and you can have Idris Elba as James Bond.” Please remember that this man has enough money to buy his own country, because he’s paid to do this. It’s remarkable.
