Variety is reporting that the writers of zom-com flick Zombieland, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, have been signed by 20th Century Fox to script the film of everyone’s favorite Merc-With-A-Mouth, Deadpool.

Now, I’ve loved Deadpool ever since he had tiny little Liefeld ankles, and this news is giving me a little hope that this film might be slightly better than the mutant gangbang that was X-Men Origins: Wolverine. (Although the news from back in October that the film will be a reboot that completely ignores that film is even more comforting.)

But we can’t forget that Fox was the company that let them turn Deadpool into a tatooed sewn-mouth freak with Cyclops’ eye beams and giant metal Baraka claws. They’re obviously capable of doing just about anything they f’in want to with him. So, good luck Reese and Wernick, and if next year we see the movie Deadpool is a flying robot who fights by farting the Captain America cartoon theme song, we’ll know it wasn’t your fault.
