After fulfilling his dream of dancing with his daughter at her wedding, Tim Buchanan tragically died of a heart attack just minutes later. Tim, an officer in a South Carolina sheriff’s department, traveled to the Costa Rican wedding over Labor Day Weekend with his wife Jeni who is a wedding photographer. In a post on her Facebook page, Jeni revealed that Tim hadn’t been feeling well prior to their trip but he resisted visiting a doctor because he was so set on not missing the big event. She says that “If there is anything you can do for us, it is to take care of yourself and your loved ones. If we can save just one life with our tragedy, then he can be a hero one more time.”
From another Facebook post, Jeni put up the following day, we learned that Tim had four children total and one grandchild. As can be expected, the family is asking for privacy at this time until funeral arrangements are confirmed. Tim’s colleagues at the sheriff’s office are wearing black bands around their badges in his memory.
A friend of the family set up a GoFundMe page to support Jeni in her time of grief, and people have raised more than $13,000 thus far.
