Warner released the first look at Amber Heard as the queen of Atlantis, Mera, in Justice League and Aquaman. The photo was first released on IGN along with some concept art and a concept video you can check out over there. This first look comes as Justice League is wrapping up the United Kingdom part of its production and is moving location to Iceland, presumably for some of that picturesque setting we see in the photo above, taken by Justice League director Zack Snyder himself.
Back in March, Amber Heard described her Mera costume to ET Online as “like, half suit of armor, half scales. It’s strange. It’s strange. We’re in the process of building it now, so it’s coming along.” The end result seems to fit with that early design. And Mera will probably need that armor, considering her history as part of a group banished from Atlantis during a civil war, after which she escaped her alternate dimension prison and returned to Atlantis to kill Aquaman, but then she fell in love with him (because he’s Jason Momoa, and how could you not?). It’s complicated.
Justice League opens November 17, 2017, followed by Aquaman on July 27, 2018.
