Only three days after losing the NXT Championship to Drew McIntyre at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III, the “Glorious” Bobby Roode made his WWE main roster debut on Smackdown Live.
Many people guessed Roode’s debut on the main roster would be in response to AJ Styles’ United States open challenge, but he popped up in an unexpected spot: a one-on-one match with Aiden English. Roode interrupted English’s pre-match song with a song of his own — the best song, ‘Glorious Domination’ — and the match was on.

Roode managed to kick out of English’s “Director’s Cut” finisher and hit a Glorious DDT for the win. After the match, Roode thanked Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan for “breaking the bank” and signing the hottest free agent in WWE. Roode was unusually nice to the crowd, which almost definitely means he’ll do something horrible to someone we love before the end of this episode. If the episode’s already over and that didn’t happen, don’t worry, it will soon. And hey, good for Roode for getting to debut without an “I love my wife” gimmick!
Roode’s appearance means Smackdown now features five former NXT Champions: Roode, Shinsuke Nakamura, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn and The New Day’s Big E.
