All hail King Corbin. ALL HAIL KING CORBIN.
To the surprise of no one, Constable Baron Corbin, first of his name, defeated Chad Gable in the finals of the 2019 King of the Ring tournament on Raw. It was another in a string of great matches for Corbin, who has been on a roll since returning from exile after his shameful Lacey Evans period, and continuing proof that Chad Gable deserves every opportunity he’s given.
The finish, of course, called back to the famous finish from American Alpha vs. Baron Corbin and Rhyno in NXT’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament, with Corbin countering a Gable tornado DDT attempt into the End of Days for the three.
Gable defeated former tag team partner Shelton Benjamin, Andrade, and surprise entrant Shane McMahon to make it to the King of the Ring finals. Corbin got there by defeating The Miz and Cedric Alexander, before winning a triple threat match against Samoa Joe and Ricochet to push him into the finals. Not sure why the King of the Ring finals didn’t main event the King of the Ring finals episode of Raw, but it was a fitting end the tournament nonetheless. And again, all hail King Constable.
