Whether he’s standing amongst the desert scrub or rocking a crowd in a packed venue, Smoke DZA is in the zone. The locale doesn’t matter; only the bars. So, despite being far from home on the West Coast leg of the recent Smoker’s Club Tour, he can comfortably deliver visuals for “The World.” No stress involved, just a chance to flip a few silky syllables. The Harlem representative’s laconic flow is in full effect, the punchlines are smooth and clever, and the angelic-voiced instrumental matches the laid-back vibe nicely.
It’s not all relaxation though. With the track almost at it’s end, DZA leaves us with these final words: “All these obstacles I hurl, until I get what’s rightfully mine: the world.” Gotta to respect the ambition. The man’s next obstacle-hurling effort, T.H.C. (The Hustler’s Catalog), will be on its way in the very near-future.
