It was just Kanye West being Kanye West on Sunday night at Governors Ball in NY. As usual, Yeezy stole the show by performing new material and going into another rant full of quotable remarks.

West had a 90-minute headlining set at the festival and used the opportunity to showcase material from Yeezus, a few of the songs heard before while others were heard by the public for the first time. He started out with “Black Skinhead” and “New Slaves,” both of which he performed on SNL a few weeks ago. Later in the performance, Kanye moved into the songs “Onsite” and “I Am A God.” Sidenote: He also debuted the red Yeezy 2 that so many sneaker aficionados are pining to get their hands on.

But probably one of the most enjoyable moments had to be Kanye’s now signature monologue moments where he talked up his new album while dismissing radio.

“We ain’t drop no single to radio. We ain’t got no big NBA campaign or nothing like that–Sh– we ain’t even got no cover,” he told the crowd, referring to the very minimal cover art for Yeezus. “We just made some real music…When I listen to radio, that ain’t where I wanna be no more,” he declared. “And honestly, at this point I can give a f— about selling a million records, as long as I put out an album y’all can rock to all summer.” [MTV]

That’s the Yeezy we all know and love or love to loathe.
