Justin Timberlake’s ’20/20′ Is Projected To Go Damn Near Platinum This Week

The person who crafted Justin Timberlake’s marketing scheme for The 20/20 Experience is likely relaxing on an exotic island being fanned with giant leaves and fed grapes while drinking the most luxurious of beverages. They deserve it, too, because Justin’s projected to push north of 800,000 copies in week one.

UPDATE: Billboard’s now saying 20/20 is now on pace to do 850,000 to 900,000.

The number instantly makes the former “Mickey Mouse Club” star and his album the highest selling anything of 2013 thus far and is well on its way to being largest sales week since Weezy’s Tha Carter IV scanned 964,000 copies. Keep these thoughts in mind when wrapping your brain around J.T. and 20/20.

1. He leaked the album himself a week before it dropped. Not exactly anything outside of the norm these days, but still.

2. The roll out for singles aside from “Suit & Tie” hasn’t truly begun yet, even though “Mirrors” looks to be next in line. Spring just kicked off and there’s the entire summer to release songs like “Tunnel Vision,” “Pusher Lover Girl,” “Spaceship Coupe” or any song he sees fit. At that point in his career, nothing is off limits in terms of singles.

3. He hasn’t even begun touring, and the follow-up is dropping just in time for Thanksgiving/Black Friday/Christmas.

I’m going to go out on a limb when I say this. That seven year gap in between albums was well worth the wait – for fans and J.T.’s bank account. Not that the latter actually needed it, though.
