Rick Ross may have the best ear for production in Hip-Hop. He rose to prominence on the back of young Virginia producer Lex Luger’s trunk-rattling bass, like a cowboy hanging on way past eight seconds on an ornery bull. The dynamic duo reconnects on Ross’ latest release, “Dog Food.”
The combination is familiar and comforting, with Ross’ flights of fancy (“My girl look like Toni Braxton/from ‘You Making Me High'”) and Luger’s synths on hyperdrive clicking right back into place together like they never left. No word yet on whether this was something Ross released from his vault or if it’s evidence of more to come, but it should be enough to hold his fans over for now.
