Dana Williams – “Keep Me Waiting” Video

If, like most Hip-Hop heads, your first (and perhaps only) exposure to Dana Williams was her vocal spot on Freddie Gibbs’ equal parts soulful and grisly “The Hard,” it might take an initial 180° to adjust to her solo sound.

Stripped entirely of anything resembling a street rap context, Williams’ new song “Keep Me Waiting” is a warm slice of graceful blues with enough texture to keep it from being strictly Starbucks fare. The phrase is typically associated with rappers, but Williams is perfectly “in the pocket” on this one. Check out the earthy, black and white video for the track, directed by Jones Crow.
