Just the other day, a friend of mine and I were talking about how we don’t go to as many shows as we used to. However, it’s not because we don’t enjoy them, but rather that these days, stashing money for events like Lollapalooza, Movement, Coachella and whatever other festival de jour might be popping that month gives you so much more music for your hard-earned buck. Well, apparently Jay-Z also sees the benefit in cramming artists together for the masses, as he just announced his own Made In America festival.
Standing with the City Of Brotherly Love’s mayor and Freeway in front of the Philadelphia Art Museum, Hovito announced earlier today that his upcoming event would be taking place during the first two days of September in Philly’s Benjamin Franklin Parkway and will feature 28 acts from various genres. While specific artists have yet to be announced, you can assume his Roc Nation compadres like Rita Ora and Cole World will be making the trip, as well as recent signee and hometown hero Meek Mill. You’d hope Freezer would get the nod as well, but based off that picture up top, you never know. Jigga, of course, will be headlining.
Tickets for the inaugural event will be made available on May 23, with proceeds going towards United Way. With that said, will you be changing your Labor Day weekend plans?
