Rittz – “For Real”

Signing to a label usually marks the beginning of endless skepticism for blogosphere rappers, and rightfully so. More often than not, the deal goes sour within a year of the ink drying. But for Rittz, the Strange Music situation just may be the best thing for him right now. His affiliation with Tech N9ne has pushed both artists beyond their previous limits as emcees and they’ve both put out some of the best music of their careers post-signing.

“For Real” serves as the lead single for his debut album, The Life and Times of Johnny Valiant, which has a concrete release date of April 30. With a touch of autotune (at no cost to his delivery), it’s a record that most wouldn’t expect from his catalog, but still easily falls in the upper echelon of Rittz’s music. Best of all, it shows very promising potential of what may be to come in little over the month. Waiting for April to end will be the worst part of the ride.

Pre-order Jonny Valiant over at Strange Music.
