Why Jay-Z Did What He Did

I just think in Hip-Hop, when a trend becomes a gimmick, it’s time to move on. I saw a Wendy’s commercial and they’re using Auto-Tune. They’re joking on it. It’s like, OK, enough of that... It was a trend, it was cool in the beginning. Some people made great music with it, now it’s time to move on.”– Jay-Z

Back when Ron Browz was poppin’ champagne and that one DJ was doing whatever he was doing, we probably would have got a kick out of this; knowing that a trend of our culture had broken into the mainstream rather quickly. But seeing that there’s been a significant drop of random Auto-Tuners since funeral services were held and Bud Light’s corny clip is about eight months too late, it gives us even more reason to celebrate the recently Grammy-annointed, “D.O.A. (Death Of Auto-Tune).”

We give T-Pain his props but that’s where it stops, it’s the Roc [Nation].
