Mike Posner – “Wonderwall” Video

When Mike Posner let go of The Layover a few weeks back, most fans found the Michigan producer/singer hadn’t lost a step, despite having been AWOL for a hot minute. Another thing we noticed was that The Pos chose to reinvigorate his passion for covering others’ hits. However, this go round, his choices seemed to be a tad more mainstream. Between Adele’s “Rolling In The Deep,” Elton John’s “Rocket Man” and Coldplay’s “The Scientist,” the guy who once freaked ELO’s “Evil Woman” had decided to remake classics his fans would undoubtedly know the words to, the second they pressed play. But, while it may seem like somewhat of a cheap gimmick on paper, Posner definitely added enough of his own flare to these one-time chart-toppers, to ensure they’d stand alone in their own right and have his fanatics singing along.

Maybe the most familiar of Mike’s covers, to my age demographic anyways, was “Wonderwall,” his take on Oasis’ staple with Big K.R.I.T. Carrying the life-preserver theme of the OG, but with a much more synthetic backdrop, the Jive artist’s version was not only good enough to catch a lead spot on his third mixtape, but also to warrant the first music video from said project. And, although Krizzle couldn’t make the party, it was probably for the better. Instead of the 3rd Coast MC, Posner’s co-star is a dime-piece mocha latte, who happens to hate underwear.

If this is what goes on for the “Wonderwall” shoot, Lord knows what would happen if Mike started covering the 69 Boys.
