Ever since David put me on to Dee-1 last year, I’ve made an honest effort to keep up with his music. The content of his lyrics are a breath of fresh air, but one of his more unheralded aspects is his charisma. Spitting the greatest truth Hip-Hop has ever heard is fine, but not presenting it in an entertaining fashion is fighting a lost cause. Dee makes me want to hear more and next Tuesday that wish will be granted with the release of I Hope They Hear Me: Vol. 2.
“It’s My Turn” is a candid opinion from a Louisiana MC who patience is running thin. The time is apparently now and he may be correct pending he makes the right decisions this year branding his product. This visual is a testament Dee desire to standout – he is the only one not sporting a white tee, the same garment of clothing his area made famous in the late ’90s. There seems to be no realistic obstacle for IHTHM: Vol. 2 not to continue the consistent streak of quality music resonating from this bayou beast. Let’s just hope the title manifests itself.
